Installing your SSL Certificate / Web Server Certificate
/ Secure Server Certificate from RapidSSL.com
- RapidSSL.com will send back your web server certificate.
In addition, you will also need the matching Trusted Root certificate, "RapidSSL CA"
- Install the FreeSSL CA trusted root certificate first
a. Select "3. Install Trusted Root Certificate into Key Ring"
b. Enter Certificate Label = "FreeSSL CA"
c. Select "Merge Trusted Root Certificate into Key Ring"
- Install your web server certificate next
a. Select "4. Install Certificate Into Key Ring"
b. Select "Merge Signed Certificate into Key Ring"
- Configure the 443 port
a. Start the Notes client, and open Server's AddressBook
b. Select Server, then Servers, then double-click on your web server
c. Select "Edit Server", go to "Ports", then "Internet Ports"
d. enter SSL key file (use full path to file)
e. enable SSL settings, especially SSL port number = 443
f. Exit the Lotus Notes client window
- Stop, then Start your server, and verify SSL from a browser
via "https://.."
Test your certificate by using a browser to connect to your
server. Use the https protocol directive (e.g. https://your server/) to indicate
you wish to use secure HTTP.
Note: The padlock icon on your browser will be displayed in
the locked position if your certificates are installed correctly and the server
is properly configured for SSL.
Troubleshooting
If you receive a "Cannot find certificate issuer
among trusted roots" error message when importing the root certificate,
please try converting it to a binary format certificate from a base 64 format
certificate.
