FreeSSL.com Changes Name to RapidSSL.com
Renaming Reflects Rapid Growth of Company and Popularity of DENVER, CO—March 08, 2005—FreeSSL.com, a rapidly growing SSL certificate specialist and a leader in automated certificate issuance, announced today that it is changing its name to RapidSSL.com. RapidSSL.com focuses on providing value-priced SSL certificates to the small-to-medium sized business markets, a burgeoning segment of the e-commerce marketplace. The name RapidSSL.com was chosen to reflect the company’s commitment to delivering certificates quickly, typically in only minutes. “RapidSSL.com not only reflects our commitment to delivering certificates faster than anyone else in the industry, it truly reflects the company’s phenomenal growth,” stated Paul Tourret, managing director of RapidSSL.com. “In 2004, our growth was 170%, making us the fastest growing CA in any segment of the SSL certificate market. Since our launch in 2003, the company has gained over 2,000 distribution partners and thousands of new customers.” To mark the launch of the new site name, RapidSSL.com will be offering free certificates to customers switching from a competitor’s SSL certificates to RapidSSL.com. RapidSSL.com markets its SSL certificates to the small-to-medium sized business marketplace, easing the process for obtaining a server certificate using a patent-pending automated domain control issuance process. RapidSSL.com owns the trusted root certificates used to issue its certificate portfolio and also offers industry leading customer care. RapidSSL.com’s certificates are simple to deploy because they avoid the sometimes difficult and extensive installation issues that can be associated with "chained root" certificates, offered by other entry-level Certificate Authorities, such as Comodo and thawte. The name change is effective immediately. All products and support services will remain the same, ensuring a seamless transition for customers and resellers. The free certificate offer is good for thawte and Comodo customers who switch to RapidSSL before June 30, 2005. About RapidSSL.com
